AKQA – health and safety onset

Another cool little idea for a christmas greeting for AKQA agency. I like the way the tune isn’t immediately recogniseable until the last 10 seconds.

thunderheist – jerk it

Loving the  music video for thunderheist.directed by that go.

So simple yet very beautiful. Art direction really tells the story here:

Love the comment on the vimeo page from shortee4204real that reads

‘Well the rooster is an astrological year in which the woman in the film is born. A few qualities of the Rooster are pedantry, chic, cockiness, and humor. So she is jiggling like a rooster’s throat and boasting like a cock. The bird is a rooster or a male hen. It has some fashion references which are provocative such as her waifiness and the jiggle of her fat along with what she is wearing. It really is meant to border the line of decency and reality so it’s just shock art with an intense outlook. It’s freaking genius.’

Ummm interesting site from the team behind it: that go check it out.

: : THE MAN WHO SOULED THE WORLD : :

themanwhosouledtheworld
For  more than 50 million people around the world skateboaring is a lawless religion to live and die by. To many its a teenage rebellion. This is the story of World Industries, the controversial skateboard company that transformed the subculture by utilizing tactics of manipulation, subversion and ambush to rewrite the rules, conquer the corporate giants who controlled the industry, and usher in a new era of skater-owned companies and skate-inspired entertainment.

Bigups : J Brickwood

Congrats to a mate of mine James Brickwood for winning the SOYA Photography award this year. I know James through the DnB and Dubstep scene in Sydney where he’s always standing in a dark corner with a camera and steady hands shooting away in black and white. He’s documented the scene for years now and also hung around at the end of early illegal warehouse raves to capture the sorts that are left behind; on film. He has a raw documentary style that I really like which suits the music genres he follows.

On the otherside he’s had a show at ACP entitled; Schoolies, a fulltime photo journalist job at the Herald in Sydney, and his coverage of the Tsunami in Sri Lanka 2004 got him featured in Reportage festival. Plus he’s not a bad bloke 🙂

James falls under the Oculi crew.
